Citywide Buffer Wall Pine Island Road North and Commercial Blvd
This project consists of the design, permitting and construction of the Citywide Buffer Wall Pine Island Road North and Commercial Blvd. Phase IIC Project, which includes approximately 4,620 linear feet (combined) of a precast system buffer wall, together with associated landscaping and irrigation improvements. Proposed work will include a buffer wall on the following locations:
- Location No. 1 – West side of Pine Island Road, between NW 79th Street and NW 81st Street; which will include additional wall segments west of Pine Island Road along NW 79th (north side) and NW 81st Street (south side)
- Location No. 2 – North side of Commercial Boulevard., between NW 58th Way and Rock Island Road
- Location No. 3 – West side of Rock Island Road, to approximately 730 LF north, from Commercial Boulevard.
The design elements for this task include concrete foundations, utility relocations, concrete columns, and precast wall panels, together with associated minor landscaping improvements.

The
proposed buffer wall detail and mockup sample have been approved by the city for fabrication.

July 31, 2025
Project Update
The Public Service Management team is reviewing weep hole alternatives needed in the
retaining wall portion of the buffer wall. Upon approval of the proposed weep holes, the
contractor will begin working to secure city, and state permits to begin clearing and grubbing
work along Commercial Blvd.
